Born in 1875 in Germany, he accomplished many charitable works, the prominent among them being, founding a hospital in Lambarene, located in then French Equatorial Africa. Today it is the capital of the province of Moyen Ogoous in Gabon country. In his autobiography named Out of My Life and Thought, written in 1931, he narrates much of his work in Africa and the said autobiography became an international best seller. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1952. He gave concerts and lectures for his fundraising work. Though a complex man, his humanitarian work did impact the lives of many patients who were in desperate need of attention and he influenced the world he lived in. An excellent book to draw an inspiration!
