Description : This book was specially commissioned to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the completion of the Bombay High Court Building. The building, designed by British engineer J.A. Fuller, had its first court sitting in January 1879 although the court itself was established on August 14, 1862. According to Ms Dwivedi, few people know that the building was inspired by a European castle. The construction of 80,000 square feet took six years to complete. The high point of the book is, without doubt, the exceptional photography. The book also contains detailed high quality reproductions of archival documents and material not available elsewhere - the original enrollment applications of Mahatma Gandhi and Bharat Ratna B.R. Ambedkar, among others, facsimile extracts from the minute books of this Association of 1862, photographs of the original Letters Patent under the signature of Queen Victoria and various artefacts (including a wig).
